- Rob Higgs - Maker, Sculptor, Automatarian
- Rob Higgs is a mechanical sculptor, automata maker and inventor. He designs and makes mechanical sculptures, contraptions and eccentric machines, largely using found materials such as; old gears, wheels, chains and mechanical items found on old farmsteads, in boatyards and on scrapheaps. He has exhibited world wide and has permanent exhibits at the Eden Project, Cornwall and the National Science Museum in London, as well as in numerous private collections and International galleries. His portfolio ranges from small scale community projects, to large scale commissions, including much work for theatre and film. Rob lives in a self-renovated 1930’s fishing boat, up a small creek in Cornwall, England, with his partner and their son.

ReplyDeleteAs an architect I cant understand all the beauty that can arise from apparent improvisation. No plans, no sketches, no traditional methods to achieve such complex machines. Muchas felicitaciones from Colombia
ReplyDeleteI think Rob's work is a wonderful combination of mechanical engineering and creative design. A true successor to Heath Robinson, except Rob's machines actually work. I would buy one if I could afford it!
